1.Will I find a motorhome difficult to drive?
We appreciate that it might be a little daunting when you first get behind the wheel which is why we’ve come up with these points to remember:
- We’ll spend up to an hour with you handing over the motorhome to help make sure you feel comfortable with all the controls and happy behind the wheel.
- We are based on a main ‘A’ road and within 15 minutes of the M56/M6 Junction, you won’t have to negotiate any town traffic until you have got used to the vehicle.
- All our motorhomes have light power steering and large power assisted mirrors to help with manoevering.
- The driving position is higher than your car, so you can see what’s going on around you more easily; otherwise you will find the controls very similar to a car.
There is no rush, take things easy and we are sure you will soon feel confident.

2. Is my normal driving licence okay for driving a motorhome?
All drivers of our motorhomes must be over 25 years of age and under 70 and have held a licence for at least 2 years. For all our motorhomes you will only need a standard driving licence allowing you to drive category ‘B’ vehicles.
Please let us know if you have any penalty points or convictions on your licence – in most cases you’ll still be able to hire a motorhome, but it may mean a small additional premium to the insurance.

| |
3. Can I go anywhere with the motorhome?
If you are planning to go to Ireland or Europe you may need to pay an additional insurance premium.
Remember all the vehicles are higher than a normal car, so you won’t be able to go into height restricted areas such as some car parks and under certain low level bridges.
|
| |
4. How much fuel will I use?
Manufacturers of motorhomes and the vehicles on which they are built are not required to publish fuel consumption figures in the same way as car manufacturers.
Our own experience tells us that you can expect 25-30 mpg dependant on your driving style and the area you will be touring. Remember, you are on holiday, relax, take your time, Live The Dream, and you will use less fuel.
|
| |
5. How will I remember how everything works on the motorhome?
As well as the comprehensive handover, we will give you a “quick guide” which covers most of the main elements of the motorhome such as the heating, hot water, electricity, the cooker, etc.
We have also put a couple of helpful notices in each motorhome to remind you of the height and width of the vehicle, plus the things to double check when ever you “set off”.

| |
6. I’m used to all home comforts will I find them in a motorhome?
The real beauty of a modern motorhome is that you find all the home comforts such as central heating, hot and cold running water, shower, a proper flushing loo, fridge/freezer, 3 ring hob plus grill/oven, freeview digital TV/DVD, radio and CD player, all the necessary crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils to make your holiday complete
|
| |
7. Will the motorhome be warm enough to use in the winter?
All our motorhomes although RHD are of continental manufacture and unlike British manufactured motorhomes, they are designed for all year round use. They all have high levels of floor, wall and roof insulation, inboard water tanks to avoid freezing and blown-air central heating. All have facilities for storing ski’s or snowboards and we even provide snow chains and insulating cab covers.

8. What period can I hire a motorhome for?
You can hire a motorhome from us for as long as you like – if you’d like one for more than 2 weeks we offer discounts.
So if you are thinking of taking that tour of Europe you have always promised yourself, but don’t want the hassle of buying and then selling your own motorhome with all the depreciation – look no further than Live The Dream.
In July and August we have a minimum hire period of 7 days on all our 6/5 berth motorhomes.
|
| |
9. What will I do with my car while we are away?
We have a secure and alarmed warehouse covered by CCTV where your car will be stored while you are away – we’ll even wash it for you for free!
|
| |
10.Can you deliver the motorhome?
We don’t deliver the motorhomes but we can arrange to pick you up from Manchester or Liverpool airports or any local mainline station.
Please phone us FREE on 0808-12-03-800 for details.

11.What do we need to bring?
We provide almost everything you will need for your break, please see ‘What’s included’.
You will just need your clothes, toiletries and personal items.
If you would rather not have the washing to do when you get back, we can also provide bedding and towels for an additional charge.
|
| |
12.How long will it take to handover the motorhome?
Please allow an hour for us to handover the motorhome and please also allow an hour when you return.
|
| |
13.Where can we stay with the motorhome?
The beauty of a motorhome is that it is fully self contained, so you really can enjoy the benefits almost anywhere.
Please be considerate when parking the motorhome and remember that parking overnight at the side of the road is not permitted in England. Scotland however, allows wild-camping particularly in the Highlands and Islands. Also much of Europe provide free or cheap stop-overs where they make available points offering you fresh water and emptying your waste/toilet. If you’d like the facilities such as a children’s play area, laundry and the opportunity to fill the fresh water then take the time to choose campsites before you start the break.
It’s best to book campsites in advance, particularly in high season to avoid disappointment. See the “Links” on our website to help you find the right campsite for you. We provide a Privilege Card for the Camping and Caravanning Club, which gives you member rates at over 120 award winning UK and Northern Ireland campsites.

| |
14.What if we have a problem while we are away?
All our motorhomes are less than 2 years old, so the likelihood of you having a problem is remote.
However, if you do have a mechanical problem with the base chassis of the motorhome, you will be pleased to know that all our motorhome’s carry full breakdown cover with the AA through Ford Assist.
Call out charges necessitated by the client through operator error, e.g. a flat vehicle battery will be the responsibility of the client.
